Medial Thigh Lift



What does it try to accomplish?

Reduces excess skin and fat from the upper inner part of the thighs


How is it done?

An incision is made in the groin running round to the buttock crease and the inner thigh is undermined. The skin is then lifted and the excess removed.


How long does the operation take?

About two hours


How long is the stay in the clinic?

One night


What type of stitches are used?

Dissolvable


What type of dressing is used?

Sticky padded tape


How long is it left on?

Two weeks


Is there any bruising?

Can be severe. Tracks down the leg


Is there any swelling?

Not usually very marked


What pain will there be?

Some discomfort and pain on movement initially


Where are the scars and how bad are they?

In the groin. Usually hidden by underpants


How long does it take to recover?

About three weeks


When is the final result seen?

Up to a year


How long does it last?

Permanent




Common Complications
Early: The scar may be lumpy and unsightly initially. Occasionally patches of numbness.
Late: Sometimes the scar can move downwards a little
